1. Maddie's® Matchmaker Adoptathon, the nation's largest two-day adoption event, will be held on June 9 & 10 in Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Francisco Counties.

  2. With the addition of San Francisco County and twenty new participating organizations, this year's event will be bigger and better than ever. It is expected that a total of 65 groups will be in 80 locations throughout the weekend. The adoption goal has been set at 3,000. (Last year 2,312 dogs and cats were placed in loving new homes.)

  3. Pets will be free to qualified adopters, but Maddie's Fund will offer stipends to participating organizations ranging from $500 to $2,000. The Maddie's Fund "stimulus package" eases the costs of providing care for senior and treatable pets awaiting adoption. Last year, 193 dogs and cats seven years of age or older found loving new homes; 599 treatable pets with 730 medical conditions were also placed. Maddie's Fund has set aside $3 million for stipends this year!

  4. Maddie's® Matchmaker Adoptathon is held in honor of the Foundation's namesake, a Miniature Schnauzer named Maddie. It's a celebration of the relationship between people and companion animals and a testament to what can be done when organizations come together and rally for a common cause.

About Maddie’s Fund

Maddie’s Fund® (www.maddiesfund.org) is a family foundation which is funded by the founder of Workday and PeopleSoft, Dave Duffield, and his wife, Cheryl. Maddie’s Fund is helping to create a no-kill nation where all healthy and treatable shelter dogs and cats are guaranteed a loving home.

To achieve this goal, Maddie’s Fund is investing its resources in building community collaborations where animal welfare organizations come together to develop successful models of lifesaving; in veterinary colleges to help shelter medicine become part of the veterinary curriculum to train veterinarians to save the lives of sick and injured dogs and cats in animal shelters; and in the implementation of a national effort to promote accountability and transparency in animal shelter operations. Maddie’s Fund is named after the family’s beloved Miniature Schnauzer who passed away in 1997.
